"Measuring metabolism in the human brain: Translational challenges and opportunities"

Our Young Investigator Paweł Hanus attended the seminar ‚Measuring metabolism in the human brain: Translational challenges and opportunities’, which took place in St Olavs Hospital in Trondheim, 08-09.04.2024 provided a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in brain metabolism research, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in understanding the complex metabolic processes underlying brain function and dysfunction. Even despite researchers were gathered from different ‚technical’ fields (MRS, PET, ex vivo NMR, fMRI) – they have been able to provide insights from different angles on metabolic imaging and profiling techniques, which lay upon or are heavily correlated with pathophysiology of various neurological disorders such us Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease. Seminar not only covered research techniques and advancements, but also a clinical practice and theoretical background. Conversations and exchange of research experiences with prof. Anne-Karine Bouzier-Sore and dr Alex Nyman allowed me to boost up ex vivo NMR research in home institution – Łukasiewicz PORT. Detailed information about presented topics were shared on internal Astro Group Lab meeting and will be shared on next PORT seminar. Hopefully ideas and topics covered upon the seminar will allow for further collaborations and research advancements.
