Integrated poly-omics analysis: A novel approach to enhance functional relevance of samples in Neuropsychiatry

The Multiomics training, held from August 5–8, 2025 at PORT, offered an intensive and hands-on experience in integrated poly-omics analysis, bridging transcriptomics, lipidomics, and metabolomics for neuropsychiatric research. Led by Dr. hab Bartosz Wojtas and Ms. Sandra Binias from the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, the program centered on a case study exploring the molecular signatures of early life adversity in human body fluid samples. Participants gained essential skills in evaluating omics dataset quality, applying principal component analysis, performing differential expression and pathway analyses, and executing step-by-step RNA sequencing workflows. The training combined expert lectures, guided practice, and group discussions, including two sessions on the intergenerational transmission of psychopathology in Srebrenica genocide survivors. Sessions on transcriptomics and multiomics integration were complemented by practical R training, fostering the ability to interpret complex datasets and translate findings into meaningful clinical insights.
