Open Panel for Seniors

The information and education panel “Dementia Disorders – Support for Patients and Families” took place on 2 September 2025 at the Congress Center of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Organized by Łukasiewicz – PORT, the meeting aimed to create a dedicated space for discussing the future of senior support in the Lower Silesia region, with a focus on modern medical technologies and the design of brain-friendly urban environments. The event accompanied the 17th Congress of the Polish Neuroscience Society. The panel was moderated by Dr Marta Duda-Sikuła from the Industry Contact Point for Medical Technologies and Health at Łukasiewicz – PORT, and brought together experts and representatives of regional institutions: Prof. Joanna Rymaszewska, Dr Agnieszka Krzyżosiak, Małgorzata Calińska-Mayer, Dr Daniel Wójcik, Urszula Kielar, Dorota Feliks, Przemysław Matyja, and Dr Anna Serweta-Pawlik. The discussion covered four key areas: senior social integration and systemic support for brain health; knowledge sharing and the creation of practical tools for families, caregivers, and local communities; innovative training for medical professionals using modern technologies; and the development of age-friendly urban spaces that promote activity, integration, and co-creation of innovation by seniors and future pre-seniors.

After the panel, participants joined a short coffee break, which enabled informal conversations, networking, and direct dialogue with experts. The event was open to the public and attracted attendees interested in senior care, neuroscience, and social innovation. The panel successfully facilitated the exchange of knowledge and experience on modern support solutions for seniors and reinforced Łukasiewicz – PORT’s commitment to advancing social and medical innovations in the Lower Silesia region.
