EMBO Workshop on Protein quality control

Karolina Cierluk participated in a workshop dedicated to cellular protein quality control — a sophisticated network of molecular chaperones, enzymes, and protein degradation systems that tightly regulate every stage of a protein’s life cycle.

The workshop brought together scientists from various fields to explore all aspects of protein quality control, from molecular mechanisms to cellular and organismal levels. Discussions took place in an open and inclusive atmosphere, covering both novel and non-canonical pathways, as well as dysfunctions linked to disease. The event featured 54 talks, 150 posters, and 200 participants, and was organized into six thematic sessions devoted to specific areas of PQC. On the final evening, attendees gathered for a banquet to celebrate the shared scientific experience.

The venue was located on the northern coast of Crete, in the charming town of Hersonissos, overlooking the Aegean Sea and situated near the world-famous archaeological site of Knossos Palace. This beautiful setting offered stunning views, excellent weather, and delicious Mediterranean cuisine.

Karolina is truly glad to have had the opportunity to attend this event. It was a highly motivating and horizon-broadening experience.
